Unearthly Materials Detected in Stevie Ray Vaughn Statue

By Editor | August 19, 2007

Said one Austin city official: “I get the weird feeling it was a control panel of sorts.”

Austin, TX — It’s like something from a made-for-TV movie. An unusual sequence of events leads to a forensic examination of a popular local statue, which is found to contain extraterrestrial materials unclassified by earthly science.

The story began to unfold several days ago as Austin city workers were performing routine maintenance on the famous Stevie Ray Vaughn statue, located at Auditorium Shores in downtown Austin.

The workers noticed an access panel at the base of the statue, in the back of Stevie Ray’s left boot. The workers claimed the panel was something new, and had never been part of the original statue.

One of the men pressed a small button on the panel, which slowly slid open with a whooshing noise he likened to “those sliding doors on the Starship Enterprise” (from the Star Trek television show). Behind the panel was a small cavity with a metallic lining, and a cylindrical device engraved with symbols resembling hieroglyphics.

“I don’t know much about these things,” said Roger Wentworth, one of the City of Austin employees who made the discovery, “but I got the weird feeling it was a control panel of sorts … like on a radio or a computer system.”

The men reported the unusual find to their supervisor, who immediately contacted the police, fearful of terrorism. The police investigated and declared that the device did not appear to be any type of terrorist device, but that they had concerns nonetheless.

Within 48 hours, federal officials from an unnamed agency were onsite conducting a battery of tests on the mysterious panel. Forensic analysis revealed that the lining of the cavity and parts of the cylindrical device contained a material that is “unclassified” by earthly science.

A metals expert noted that the material would be “highly desirable by industry,” but was unlike anything he had seen in twenty years of metals research.

The cavity and device were removed from the statue before the public got wind of the discovery. International teams are now comparing the device to similar items found all over the world, including a strange metallic cube discovered a year ago in Egypt’s Giza Plateau.

Federal authorities have not released photos of the device, and they have declined to comment further on the investigation.

But as always, the Austin Probe dug a little deeper. We leveraged a source inside the Pentagon who verified that federal officials are currently speaking with an Austin-based extraterrestrial watch group. The subject of their discussions is the possible connection between the mysterious device recently discovered and the grainy 1994 photograph below, which apparently shows a UFO hovering over Auditorium Shores … and the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue.
