Governor Sanctions Elite Team of Ghostbusters
By Editor | August 21, 2007
Austin, TX — Governor Perry’s office announced today the formation of an elite squad of paranormal crime fighters, which will act as the city’s first line of defense against ghosts, poltergeists and even the walking dead.
The City of Austin Specter Police and Emergency Response, or CASPER, is charged with the responsibility of protecting Austinites from all manner of paranormal pests.

The governor is taking the program so seriously that he has actually agreed to quarterback the unit’s ‘A’ squad, which will respond to high-priority calls. Pictured above, the ‘A’ squad will also include Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst (left) and Texas Speaker of the House Tom Craddick (right).
The CASPER team’s website and hotline will soon be announced, and their specially equipped ghost-fighting vehicles will be seen around the streets of Austin starting on October 1, 2007, just in time for Halloween.

A “Consumer’s Guide to Ghosts” is also in the works, and will be available as a download from the forthcoming CASPER team website. The handbook will offer helpful tips on guarding against the undead.
