Calling Austin Writers…
We love creative writers. I mean we really love them, especially when the lights go down and Barry White comes on the radio.
So if you’re a writer in the greater Austin area, and you have crafted a first-rate story or essay, please send it to us. We will read and consider every piece of fiction (or essay) sent our way, but we can only select the best material for publication. In other words, even the Austin Probe has standards to uphold.
What we like:
- Short stories, experimental fiction and the like. Especially when written by a writer who knows what he or she is doing. Some of our favorite fiction authors: Barry Hannah, George Saunders and Donald Barthelme.
- Humor essays somehow related to Austin. Your first kiss under the Congress Avenue bridge with the romantic scent of guano in the air. A friendly neighborhood barbecue that took a scandalous “Desperate Housewives” twist. You tell us!
Some helpful notes:
1. Please send your work in Word or text format to editor[at]AustinProbe.com.
2. We cannot afford to pay writers, because we are “starving artists” ourselves.
3. We respect the work of talented writers and will display your work as such.
4. We pay attention to the quality and originality of all work submitted. If spelling, punctuation and grammar have their way with you, your work will probably not be published.
Thanks for your interest, Austin writers!
