Austin Man Discovers Parallel World Behind Taco Shack

By Editor | August 22, 2007

Austin, TX — It started out like any other Wednesday for Randall Rydell. He arrived early at the corner of Rundberg and the I-35 access road. He cleaned windshields for the idle morning commuters. He napped under the overpass to escape the noontime sun.

Just a day like any other.

But when Rydell went to purchase his afternoon libation at a nearby convenience store, his world changed … literally.

Rydell took a shortcut behind a row of small businesses, as he did nearly every day, and that’s when he saw the portal.

“I was right behind the taco place,” Rydell said. “I know cause I smelt the sausage smoke comin’ out the vents back there. I stumbled over a milk crate, and when I looked up I seen it … a weird shimmering sort of light, round and about the size of a manhole cover, maybe a bit larger.”

What Randall Rydell saw, some experts believe, was a “portal” into another dimension — a doorway, if you will, leading to another time and place.

Intrigued by the circle of light, and dizzy from the heat, Rydell poked his head inside. What he saw was the stuff of big-budget science fiction movies.

“They was all these women,” Rydell explained. “Only they weren’t like no women I even seen. They was green-skinned, but classy … and they flew around on big butterfly-looking wings.”

Rydell ran back to the bridge to wake his friend, Slappy, and the two men returned to the alley behind the taco stand. But the portal was gone. Other witnesses reported having seen something glowing in the alley, and one man even claimed to see it disappear, like a “candle being snuffed out.”

But for Randall Rydell and Slappy, the train had left the station.

Cosmic experts say that while such portals are rare, they do occur. Some have even been recorded in photographs. In fact, many people believe that Amelia Earhart flew into a parallel world on her fateful flight, instead of crashing into the Pacific Ocean as common belief has it.

Such a portal is shown in the photograph below, in an episode of Star Trek.

As for Rydell, he hasn’t given up on his world of green-skinned beauties on gossamer wings: “I’ll find them ladies,” he said, with a forlorn expression. “I’ll find ‘em if it takes me longer than forever.”

This one time, I was walking down South Congress Avenue, and I came across a portal, and when I looked in I saw George Bush, Conde, Cheney and Rummy playing strip poker! I tried to climb in but was hammered to the ground by Carl Rove’s forearm. That dude is strong! Alberto stood there and laughed at me…
